Quick Transformation-- Onesies and Some Great DIY Tools

I don't have little ones and I've been wanting to transform onesies and little shirts for awhile.  A friend of mine just had a little boy, Armaan so I jumped at the chance of making some for him.
They started like this:

I made a pattern for a tie.

I used the pattern to trace and cut out two ties.  Then I used Stitch Witchery to fuse the ties to the onesies. Make sure to cut the Stitch Witchery a little smaller then the fabric so that you don't get glue all over your iron.  My mom just mailed this stuff to me.  I love it!  I can think of a ton of things I'd like to use it on. Anyone who doesn't like sewing, this is PERFECT stuff for you.

After I ironed the ties on, I sewed around the edges to make them pop a little.

I wanted to personalize one more onesie to celebrate his name and the day he was born.  I pulled out my stamps and Copic markers.  I inked up my stamps with my Copic markers. If you don't know about Copic markers... they are AWESOME!  They are permanent and you can use them to change the color of ribbon, buttons, metal, color and shade directly on paper, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm still discovering all of the possibilities.

Then I stamped directly on the onesie.

Here are all of the shirts together:

Now somebody needs to have a girl so I can make some onesies with ruffles and flowers!

Check out other people's transformations at Met Monday.

Those are so cute! What a great idea for a baby gift. Where do you find those markers? You think Michaels might have them? They don't wash off?

Alicia,
I've never seen them at Michaels or Joanne's. I've seen them at specialty art stores or at my local scrapbook store. You can also get them online at copicmarkers.com. It seems like they have the best prices. They are alcohol-based, acid-free permanent markers-- they're supposed to be permanent, I'm going to wash the onesie just to make sure.

Hope that helps.
