Problems Loading Pictures on Etsy

first of all, sorry that i've been MIA.  i'm back in technology classes so that's where all my creativity has been taking place.  last term it was making videos.  this term it is building websites.  eek.  that's all i have to say about that.

i have an etsy shop and i've had problems with seeing certain images- specifically my banner when viewed on Safari.  i created the image in Photoshop and originally saved it as a jpeg.  i spoke to one of my professors about the problem and he said that i should save the image as gif or png.

here's how i changed the format:

the perfect baby gift

wow...  i totally got wiped out by that flu bug going around.  i didn't get to do the Tour de Palm Springs.  that was a total bummer.  all of my biking partners were sick too so none of us got to ride.  i didn't get to make Valentine's day treats for my co-workers either.

i'm finally starting to feel like myself again, so i'm going to make those Valentine treats this week.  better late than never right?  it's kinda nice to spread out the sweets too.  no sugar coma and maybe they'll like getting a surprise treat this week.  :o)

i can tell i'm getting better because i felt like creating this weekend.  :o)  it's amazing how being creative makes me feel better.  it energized me... well, for a little at least.  and then i needed a nap. :o)  this weekend i sewed!  it's been awhile since i've sewn.  i've really missed it.

i've been thinking about new things to add to my store and i've been wanting to make something special for babies and newlyweds.  i love my new shop name because i really do like to create a simple but pretty lil package.   i came up with the baby gift first...
baby gift set
 here's what's inside...
baby gift set
a stuffed baby chick, with a plush, soft tummy.
as i sewed several of these baby chicks in different fabrics, i began to imagine the babies they might find new homes with.  i started imagining their lives and families and thought of this verse:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11

and then i decided to tuck the verse inside each baby chickie!
if you pull on the little tab that says "pull here" this is what you'll find:
 a fun, colorful baby bunting!

a fun little package for a beautiful baby... thank you for letting me share!

Mystery Box

i'm so excited!  the fed ex guy just dropped by and i just finished lugging this big box up the stairs...
it is HEA-VY and i can't wait to tear into it!

it's new stuff for my Etsy shop!!

i've got to take pics, figure out shipping, and post them so they'll probably be up later this weekend.  ooooooo the mystery.... what could it be? :o)

by the way... i'm always looking to see what's the new latest and greatest out there that i can purchase in bulk and make available to all of you for a good price... is there anything YOU would like to see in the store?  feel free to leave me a comment and let me know and i'll see what i can do.  :o)

have a fabulous weekend!!

Monday

etsy purchases, business cards, and a giveaway!

etsy has become such a big part of my life that i forget that not all people know about it.

i love buying things that i can enjoy all day by wearing or carrying it around.
my recent purchases have been this simple and delicate necklace
The Charteuse Room

and this fun purse... it's out of my norm of what i usually spend, but after reading the background behind it...
"this darling bag was created in honor of our soon-to-be-adopted daughter...who will be named Emery Lin. our hope is that the sale of this bag will help raise funds to bring her home even sooner! my husband, our 2 boys (foster 4yrs, rowan 2 years) and i, anxiously await the arrival of our sweet daughter and sister. thank you for being a part of something so special and dear to us!"

...i just had to buy it!!
Fosterkadesigns
i've received a lot of sweet compliments on my purse and yesterday i had a few people ask me about my necklace.  each time i talk to people i tell them that i got it on Etsy and their response is always... Etsy??  i usually start explaining what an wonderful community it is of incredibly talented and creative small business owners.  the conversation usually leads to them writing down the website so they can check it out later.

i got to thinking about it and decided to create an easy business card that i can pass out to spread the word about Etsy.  it has my shop information on it, but i figure they can start there and then spend hours browsing through all of the other wonderful shops.  :o)

here are the cards....
i think it will be so fun to pass them out!
this is the punch i used to cut them out. i bought mine at joann with a 50% off coupon.
EK Success

here's my giveaway... i'll make a PDF of these cards with your personal information
or with your store and/or blog information
8 are on each sheet.  you can print them out on your own printer and punch them out, or you can just cut them out in a rectangle shape with a paper cutter... each card measures 3"x 2".

i can make a sheet of the green border or the grey border, or you can have a combination of the two colors... you decide! :o)

Sunday

Bakers Twine

the thing i love most about having an etsy shop is wrapping and packaging the things i sell.  perhaps that sounds silly, but it's true.  i get so excited when i receive an email notification of a sale and i can't wait to get home that night so i can wrap it up. :o)

thanks to ashley, i got to wrap quite a few packages this weekend! :o)

i have to back up a sec and tell you that i LOVE ashley's blog, under the sycamore.  i try my best to save it to read at the end of the day because it brings a smile to my face, but on most days, it's the first thing i read in the morning before i even roll out of bed. :o) she's an incredible photographer who captures the "mundane" moments of life with her 4 children, and she's a cross between mac guyver and martha stewart when it comes to DIYing her house and crafts... she's pretty darn amazing!  she's so talented that she guest posts for Design Sponge and Design Aglow.  you can't imagine how jumping-out-of-my-skin THRILLED i was when i read her Design Aglow post and ashley listed MY etsy shop as the place where she gets her bakers twine!!!!

so here are some of the packages i worked on this weekend...
with every order, i throw in an extra 10 yards of a random color of my choice! :o)  that's what those itty bitty spools are... i always love surprises!

i'm getting some new fun colors in soon... i can hardly wait!  i'll be sure to post on here and let y'all know when i get them listed in my etsy shop

on a side note, i finally did a little Christmas decorating today while i waited for my peppermint meringues to bake...
here's a little peek...
i'm not a big Christmas decorator, but i like to put a few simple things out to remind me of the season and keep me in the Christmas mood while i'm busy baking and making and wrapping presents.

i hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Gift Tags Galore

i love making gift tags... it's a simple little thing that can spruce up a gift, room, or card.  here are some i have been working on... they'll all be in my etsy shop before the end of the day.  :o)

Monday

Numbered Tags

tags are so fun to create and use.  i have to be careful or else it would look like a box-o-tags exploded in my house.  right now i am using them to label/number my craft supplies.
it's horrible, but i'm still working on my craft room/office.  these tags tie in with other things in the room, but i'm just not ready for the reveal. i've sorted my felt, sewing books, yarns, and some of my fabric into these bins.

it was fun making these tags. they're so simple and  just looking at them makes me happy. :o)
these are some other ones i made that are now in my etsy shop.
i love these with the soft yellow background.
i have some plain tags made in various sizes as well. come on over and check 'em out. :o)
