LOVE, love, love this shop

i love window shopping on etsy, and i especially love window shopping in tamar's shop- Nest Pretty Things.  she creates the most gorgeous jewelry.  i especially love her necklaces.  they're so happy and pretty.

i love this next necklace... with all the different colors, i could absolutely wear it EVERY day. 

i love the vintage glass beads on this necklace.  simple and delicious.  i love it because i can totally see myself dressing it up or dressing it down with the right clothes.  this is my favorite of all of her creations... today.  :o)

she also has beautiful bracelets, headbands, earrings, and more.  check her out... if you buy something... don't tell me... i'll be green with envy.  :o)

where do you find reclaimed wood?

i've been drooling over images like these that show reclaimed wood used as an accent in a home

salvaged or reclaimed wood just brings such warmth to a room and i wanted some for myself.  that started me on my hunt for places that sell it.  

i was fully prepared to have to drive hours from my home, but after doing a little search on the internet i was shocked to find a place right in my backyard!!!

i took today off and decided to check it out Vintage Timberworks.  Vintage Timberworks "supplies recycled seasoned old growth lumber, beams, timbers, and antique flooring reclaimed from the dismantling of antiquated structures in which it has been 'warehoused' for up to 200 years". 

if you don't live near sw riverside county, don't fret.  they can ship the wood out to you.  they also provide a bunch of service like planing, sanding, and edging the wood.

if you live near their location, drop by and check them out... they are super nice, they have a gorgeous showroom, and you can walk all over their premises and check out all of their beauteemous wood.

after checking out the showroom, i just walked around their lot to check out what they have... and they have A LOT! *grab a tissue... you're bound to drool over what's coming next....

in the area where they do their milling services i saw these babies... it was funny, one of the guys drove me all around on a golf cart and when i saw these my heart leapt and i shouted, "STOP!" he looked at me funny and appeased me.  :o)   i wanted to snap them all up.  wouldn't they be beautiful as a table or just simply propped up against a wall??

that was a fun little adventure today... i am chomping at the bit to build something now. :o)

have you ever noticed the style studio banner at the bottom of the ballard designs website?

i finally clicked on it this week... hokie smokes!!! i couldn't believe all the wonderful tips i found there!  my favorite was the house beautiful article on suzanne kasler... i mean... just check out these images. 

suzanne gives great tips like adding texture and making an entryway more welcoming by adding this beautiful wicker chair.

i love this living room and how she arranged the pictures and mirrors on the wall.

 

don't cha love how she mixed textures and colors in this dining room?? i just want to snatch up all of those wonderful cake pedestals. yummm!

 i don't like doing laundry, but i'd love to LIVE in this laundry room!

 that suzanne is a talented gal! she's really making me love white and wicker!

How to tie the perfect bow

OMGoodness!!!  I found the most amazing site this morning! It's FULL of ideas for gifts, party favors, wrapping and so much more... but the thing that I L-O-V-E-D was their tutorial on tying the PERFECT BOW.  I am totally bow challenged.  Ask my mom.  Whenever I'm home and I have to tie a bow, I hand it over to her.  She ties BEAUTEEMOUS bows.  I'm SO self-conscious about my skills.  After watching this video, I'm pretty sure I can do it.  This technique eliminates guessing how much ribbon you need and saves you from wasting a ton of extra ribbon.  It also creates a flat bottom so there's no wobbly gift sitting under the tree.  Check it out.  You'll have MAD bow tying skills after watching it.

I'm going to try it out NOW. :o)
