Long Sought After Items

What an incredible day! In my purse I carry a "Wish List" with me at all times.  This helps keep me focused and on track when thrifting and it also helps my pocketbook by keeping me from purchasing unnecessary items.  These are some of the items on my list:
  • Milk glass items
  • Scrabble
  • Vintage fan
  • Vintage scale
  • Shelves
  • Vintage colored glass and Ball jars
  • Vintage fabric
  • Storage containers
As you can see, I was able to cross a couple of items off of my list!  Coolio julio!!!!
I got into a lengthy conversation with the lady I purchased a couple of these items from.  She's originally from the east coast and we discussed how difficult it is to find cool vintage items in the area at reasonable prices.  She said that it isn't difficult to find yard sales in the east coast that have awesome stuff at great prices.  Here, it it rare to find vintage treasures and if you do, they want to charge an arm and a leg for it.  Like just the other day I found a set of 4 vintage nesting Pyrex bowls for.... $96!!!!  I about had a heart attack.  They were beautiful but not THAT beautiful.  After talking to her I SO want to fly out to the east coast, rent a truck, and yard sale hop...but that's a little extreme.

I'm curious about where you southern California thrifters go?  If you're willing to share, I'd love to know.

Sorry for my ramble... Now on to the good stuff.  Here's what I found today. (I'm using my new to me Scrabble set to show how much I paid for things)
I love the old hardware on this box.
I've been drooling over vintage scales for awhile so I was elated when I found this.
As you can tell, I did my weekly stocking up at the local farmers market as well.  I love buying organic and supporting the local farmers.  I also picked up these beautiful dahlias.
I don't think it is possible to have a bad day with these beauties greeting me each day! :)
Hope you're all having a BLESSED weekend!

Great finds! I love old scales as well and the hardware on that box is great. I wish I had some good finds to share today, but there were no yard sales to be found (cold & rainy here.)

i feel you. i'm in austin texas where retro, vintage, and antiques are in high demand. i shop a lot at thrift stores in texas but it annoys me so much because often times stores will set aside quality vintage items in a special case or in an area where they charge premium for those items. it kinda takes the fun out of finding treasures in the store, especially when they pick over the good stuff before you can even get to it.

have you tried estate sales? ive had some really good success going to those. i tend to go to ones in older (established in the 40s-70s) wealthy suburban neighborhoods. thats when you find the good stuff cause the people have been living there for 40 years and have so much hidden away. grandma's are pack rats.

Love that scale! I feel your pain...in my little corner of the world, finding great finds at bargain prices is really tough!

Thanks for joining the party!

I love the Scrabble idea for your photos and I would like to use that in some of my blog photos. Good luck on the East Coast. ;)

The scrabble tiles are cute. Great idea! I love the thrill of the hunt too, the thrift shop hunt that is. It's great when we find something we've been hunting for!

Do you know I have some of the same items on my list?? Besides for vintage fabric, old picnic baskets and cake plates are my favorites to look for.
