Tutorial: Two Lazy Susans for My Craft Supplies

I'm so excited to share my new creations!

Please bear with me as I try to work on my photo editing techniques

I started out with two double decker lazy susans that I picked up at the thrift store eons ago for .50 each.  Today they finally found a purpose.

I'm always getting up and down out of my chair to get craft and sewing supplies.  Oh bother!  I started thinking about how great it would be to have a double decker lazy susan for my craft supplies.  Now these just wouldn't do. This dingy yellow is NOT inspiring. Yucky!

I went shopping around my house and found the perfect supplies to make new lazy susans.
For the first one, I used a candle stick and two platters.

I took the lazy susan apart and just used the bottom twirly section.  I gave the sides a nice coat of heirloom white. There was no need to paint the top or bottom since it wouldn't be exposed.

Then I used this stuff to glue it all together. I wanted it to be permanent and knew that E-6000 would do the job.  No craft supplies crashin over on me.

I put a generous line of it on all the parts that would be touching and started piecing it together.

Here's the first one completed.

I haven't decided what's going to go where yet, but I know all the glasses will fill up quickly.
I knew I would use the second lazy susan for my sewing supplies so I wanted to incorporate some sewing elements.  How about some antique spools of thread??  My mom mailed me oooodles of these... how perfect for this project!!  Moms ROCK!!!  I peeled off the paper on the ends, sanded them and then glued them together using E-6000.

Don't cha wish they still cost this much???

Here's the second one completed. The glue is so tough that I can pick the whole thing up by the pillar of thread on top.

Here's a better look.

I LOVE all of the pretty colors!!! And better yet, the spools of thread belonged to my mom and grandma AND... it spins!!!  How fun is that??

I really like this idea. I have been finding candy dishes that are tiered and love them with my supplies in them. I really like the fact that this swivels. I may have to add a turny thingy to one of mine. Thanks for the creative idea
