Organizing Business Cards

Organizing business cards seems like an easy enough task, but for many reasons I've had a difficult time with deciding on an organizing system.

I've been using this plastic pocket system for over 10 years and hated it.
I've used small sizes like this one and big binder sized sheets to organize my cards.  The thing I don't like about this system is that every time I get a new card I have to either take everything apart to make it alphabetical (who has the time for that?) or put it in a blank spot and then it's not alphabetical.  Yuck.  My skin crawls just thinking about it being out of order.

I've used these Rolodex systems before, but I don't like them for two reasons:

  1. The system itself is cold and uninspiring
  2. I don't like to organize my cards by straight alphabetical order (I'll explain later)

As a result of not being able to decide on an organization system, my cards have looked like this for months:
Classy, right?? ;)

It's a new year and one of my goals is to organize my life at work and at home.  So I decided to finally tackle my business card dilemma. I looked online and couldn't find an organization system that was inspiring, so I started looking around my home.  I decided on this:
I didn't want my cards to slide around, so I made a divider.
I have a weird memory.  I can remember random things about people, but I can't always remember people's names or business names, so I decided to organize my cards into groups.  Once they were in groups, I put them in alphabetical order and came up with this:
Ahhhhhhh... such a small part of my life, but it feels SO good to have it organized!!  I even have more room to add cards and I made extra dividers just in case I need to add more categories.
I love how it looks on my desk and I love that it is uniquely me.  I also love that it's something I can grow into. :o)  Now on to organizing other areas of my life! More posts to come...

Such a great idea and they look cute in there. What more could a girl ask for?

VERY cool! The colours alone make you feel happy! :) Love the catagories thing. Makes way more sence than wheeling through acres of letters forgetting who you're looking for in the first place!

Thanks for the great idea and linking it up to SNS!

That looks great! Definitely unique and not the least bit cookie-cutter. :-)

And thank you so much for your comments on my "burnout" post, every visit and comment means so much to me!

XO,
Anne
